It's smoked Gouda for you!
Smoking cheese is a tricky thing. It’s very easy to bury the flavor of the cheese under too much smoke. We’re very proud of all the smoked varieties we offer here at Baumgartner’s because they hit the sweet spot where the smoke complements, rather than covers, the rich flavors of the base cheese. Smoked Gouda, however, is unique. Whereas smoked Baby Swiss, for example, is instantly recognizable as Swiss cheese that has been smoked, Gouda is a much milder base. The result is a decadent, creamy, smoky delight that is more or less a unique cheese unto itself. This stuff is perfect for topping grilled sandwiches, especially burgers; it’s also spectacular straight off the block. Quite possibly the world’s best picnic & backyard barbecue cheese.
