Developed by an Ohio cheesemaker in the 1960s, Baby Swiss cheese delivers the rich, nutty Swiss flavor cheese lovers expect without any of the sharpness associated with more traditional varieties. Its name is somewhat misleading; while typically sold young, it is distinguished from other Swiss cheeses not by its age, but by the distinct culture used to produce it. “Baby” refers not to the age of the cheese but to the small wheels into which it was originally made. Baby Swiss is an extremely versatile cheese; it melts well, maintains its flavor in baked dishes, and is delicious straight off the block. Butter some rye bread and try a bold twist on a grilled cheese sandwich! A true crowd pleaser, this is one of our best-selling varieties.
