Cheese Days in Monroe

Cheese Days turns downtown Monroe into a weekend of parades, music, and cheese tastings. The festival runs on the third full weekend in September during even-numbered years, when Green County celebrates its Swiss heritage and dairy roots. We are conveniently located in the quaint Swiss community of Monroe, a rich cheese producing area in southern Wisconsin. We can be reached in an hour or less from Rockford, Janesville, Madison and Dubuque, Iowa. Baumgartner's features locally brewed beers. They are a fine complement to the delicious cheese you will find here. Baumgartner's is a center of activity all the time but especially during Cheese Days, a colorful festival held the third weekend of September during even-numbered years.

What to expect

Expect cheese sampling tents, craft vendors, live polka and alpine music, and crowded restaurants. Hotels in Monroe and nearby towns fill early, so book lodging ahead. Parking moves to outlying lots with shuttles on the busiest days. Wear comfortable shoes for walking brick streets around the Square.
